Bristlecone’s Concealed Carry for Beginners class is designed to allow students to begin their journey of being proactive with their self defense even if they don’t have a lot of experience! This course exceeds the state of Colorado’s requirements for a concealed handgun permit by not only educating students about concealed carry concepts, but also proper shooting fundamentals and basic handgun knowledge. Students will learn about types of handguns that are most efficient for concealed carry, how to carry handguns safely and securely, and how to utilize them appropriately during a self defense situation. Based on scientific research, logic, and reasoning, this course will reinforce basic pistol handling as well as inform students about holster selection, alternative force options, interacting with law enforcement, and the aftermath of an incident. Skills learned in the classroom will be reinforced during the live fire range portion of the class. This 5 hour class is offered in women’s only and coed formats to fit the needs and comfortability of all students!
Required equipment:
- Defensive handgun (modern striker-fired preferred)
- 2 magazines
- 50 rounds of ammunition
- Hearing and eye protection
- Range appropriate clothing (crew neck shirt and closed toe shoes).
- If you don’t already have the recommended equipment, we offer rentals at the facility for a discounted price! Ammunition must be purchased from the facility if you require a handgun rental.
A minimum of 3 students is required to run the class or it may be canceled/rescheduled.
