Civilian First Response
March 12, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm$40
Virginia Tech, Tucson, Boston, Paris, Colorado Springs, San Bernardino . . . . the list of mass violence incidents continues to grow with each passing month. For years the mitigation, preparedness and response activities have focused on the public safety sector, while civilians have been told to lockdown, lockout, run, hide, fight, or something else. While this basic principles will always apply, we need to do more to arm everyone else out there with solid information, those that are truly first on scene, those that are there when it is happening.
Civilian First Response is a course that will empower those that find themselves in the middle of a rapidly unfolding incident with Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS minutes away. Your safety and security are personal, it’s time to start taking personal action to ensure your safety.
Your survival during a mass violence incident starts before the incident even happens. During an incident normalcy bias leads most people to believe everything is ok, this is not happening. In addition people tend to follow the crowd, in many incidents we have seen both of these tendencies lead people away from safety.
How do we prevent these and other natural reactions from occurring? We prepare for the unexpected by studying how others have coped with the unforeseeable and unpredictable. Civilian First Response will present benchmark events that we have learned from. Pubic Safety First Responders have adapted their response with each incident, you must learn how to as well.
Civilian First Response is an 4 hour entry level course that will provide you with the basic knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitude needed to survive a mass violence incident.
